The single-speed setup keeps things simple. No shifting to worry about, no derailleurs to get damaged. On flat terrain and gentle hills, this works fine. If your kid plans to ride steep hills regularly, a bike with gears might be a better choice.

Assembly Notes
The bike came well-packaged with clear instructions. The 85 percent assembly claim is accurate. You will need a 13mm wrench for pedals, an Allen wrench set (included in the box), and about 20 minutes.
